Under the magnifying glass. Control by focusing on the grain.
This focusing magnifier is used when working in a photographic chamber with an enlarger and is used for convenient checking of correct focus in the dark. The optical system allows an exact control of the focus on the grain.
Manufacturer's designation: PTP 643
The Paterson Micro Focus Finder magnifier allows precise focusing on the grain of the image, is 15 cm high, and includes a sliding eyepiece for accurate focusing. The mirror is protected by a cover and the lens by a cap.
You place the magnifying glass on photographic paper, look into the focuser eyepiece, and use your hand to slowly focus (by turning the focus wheel) on the magnifying glass until the grain you see through the eyepiece is perfectly sharp.
You can adjust the Paterson Focus Finder to your vision, i.e. to take your diopters into account. You carefully move the eyepiece up and down until the focus crosshairs in the finder are perfectly sharp. Then you lock the eyepiece into position with the locking screw.
