Description

Liquid concentrate for the preparation of intermittent solution. Suitable for all types of black and white materials. Dilution 1:19. Break time for films and papers on RC backing is 10 - 20 s, for papers on baryta backing 30 s. The solution is exhausted when it turns blue-green.

The role of the interrupter is to terminate the action of the developer on the light-sensitive material. During the action of the interrupter, the latent image is no longer visible, but the residual developer and light can cause blackening of all parts of the image even after a long time.

The application of the interrupter is followed by the application of a fixative, which washes away the residues of the unreduced silver salts and the light parts of the image can no longer change colour.

The breaker has a slightly acidic reaction to immediately stop the action of the alkaline developers.

Pure water can also be used to interrupt the development, but this only causes a strong slowing down and not a complete cessation of the development. However, the material can be rinsed with water before and after the use of the interrupter.
