Fine grain, extremely high resolution and exposure flexibility.
Incredible Push-Pull process up to ISO 3200.
Kodak Tri-X pan TX 400 30,5 m (100ft) is a 30,5 m (100ft) length of yardage. It is a high sensitivity professional 35mm panchromatically sensitized black and white negative film.
It features fine grain, extremely high resolution and exposure flexibility.
The nominal sensitivity of Kodak Professional TRI-X 400TX film is ISO 400, but its exceptional exposure flexibility guarantees it very good results even at overexposure (ISO 200) and underexposure (ISO 3200).
This allows the film to capture a full range of tones as well as a seamless Push-Pull process. Its high image quality is made possible by its very fine grain, which also contributes to the high edge sharpness and overall sharpness of the photographs, and allows the film to produce excellent results when developing large format enlargements where it retains maximum image quality.
The excellent image qualities of this film have been appreciated by many world-renowned photographers, including Sebastian Salgado, whose documentary photography has made him famous.
Practical application:
Exceptional quality film for versatile use. It can be successfully used not only for portrait, documentary, sports and journalistic photography, but also for landscape and advertising shots. For the Pull/Push process, the Kodak XTOL developer has proven itself to be an excellent choice, with which sensitivity can be increased by up to an incredible 3EV (ISO 3200).
Film processing:
Safe lighting for developing is either infrared light or complete darkness. Kodak Professional TRI-X 400TX film can be processed in all common negative developers (however, Kodak T-MAX, Kodak D76, Ilford MICROPHEN, or Kodak XTOL are recommended). The developing bath should take eleven minutes at a 1:1 dilution ratio for Ilford MICROPHEN, nine and three-quarter minutes for Kodak D76, and for Kodak T-MAX the developing bath would be diluted 1:4 and the correct development length would be six minutes. After the development time has elapsed, it is recommended to rinse the film briefly with distilled water or immerse it in a 2% acetic acid solution for 10s, or alternatively to use a break bath for about half a minute in Kodak EKTAFLO Stop solution (Used for Kodak T-MAX developer). Film setting is recommended at 18-25°C, 2-4 min. in Kodak Polymax T Fixer diluted 1:3, 2-4 min. in Kodak Rapid Fixer, or a minimum of 2-5 min. in Ilford Rapid Fixer diluted 1:4. After setting, the film must be washed in running water for 20-30 min at wash water temperatures below 15°C, or 15 min at wash water temperatures above 15°C. It is recommended to finish the film processing by rinsing the washed film with distilled water or by immersion in a wetting agent solution. These times are only approximate, before using the film material we recommend to study the information provided by the manufacturer on the packaging or in the product data sheet.
